Where every intern is, what they wrote, and who countersigned it

A switch in Setup for hospitals that train interns. Placements from the rotation on the first day; nothing an intern writes takes effect until it is countersigned; a certificate at the end. Hospitals without interns see no change.

Intern doctors — step by step

Who does the work at each step, and what the software does. Press a step to stop on it.

  1. 1 The batch and the rotation Intern coordinator A batch added at once; each gets a sign-in with the Intern doctor role, and placements from the rotation from their first day — a department, and its unit where there are units.
  2. 2 Who is where, week by week Coordinator Placements swapped or extended, one at a time; today’s placement decides whose patients the intern sees.
  3. 3 The intern writes Intern doctor Round notes, orders, summaries — once signed they wait for a countersign; no order reaches the nurses before it.
  4. 4 Countersigned A supervisor of the placement Countersigned, or returned with what to change; how many wait on the menu, from a phone too.
  5. 5 Logbook and sign-off Intern and supervisor Procedures and cases at a level, counted against targets; checked in one tap; each placement assessed and signed off at its end.
  6. 6 The completion certificate Coordinator Printed once every placement is signed off, with a QR to check it.

The coordinator’s register

Every intern, their placement and what is outstanding

Name, college and session, today’s placement and when it ends, how many notes wait for a countersign, which sign-offs are missing, how much of the logbook is verified and how many targets met — on each intern’s card. Search by name, college, BMDC number or department; “Who is where” shows the whole batch week by week.

  • The rotation in Setup: placements in order, each a department (or unit) for so many weeks
  • Supervisors are the doctors of that department or unit — or only those marked as supervising interns
  • Interns are with HR too, so rosters and attendance know them
  • Guided tours for the intern doctor and the coordinator

Which placement each intern is in, week by week, a new placement in bold where it starts. Press a name for the intern’s record — where a placement is swapped, or extended to make up leave.

  • An intern is in one placement at a time; a change whose days clash is refused
  • Where there are units, a placement names one — “Orthopaedics, Unit 1”

Countersign

What an intern writes waits for a supervisor

What an intern signs — a round note, orders, a summary — goes to the list of a supervisor of the placement. Only once they countersign do the orders reach the nurses and the summary become final; otherwise they return it with what to change. An intern never countersigns.

  • To countersign on the menu with how many wait; logbook checks and placement sign-off in the same place
  • The intern’s own page: where they are today, how many days are left, the placement’s patients, where each of their notes stands
  • No way round it for an urgent order — the supervisor countersigns from their own phone

Procedures and cases, against the targets

IV cannulation, catheters, suturing, plasters, ECGs, deliveries, CPR and more — each at its level: observed, assisted, performed under supervision or performed. A supervisor checks each in one tap; the verified ones count against the targets the hospital sets. Printed in Bangla or English.

  • At a placement’s end the unit head (or a supervisor of the department) marks attendance, knowledge, skills and attitude 1–5, with remarks
  • The completion certificate once all are signed off, with the QR check the hospital’s other certificates carry
  • Apart from the postgraduate logbook — this one is the internship’s

Questions

What hospitals ask

We have no interns — does anything change?
No. The switch in Setup is off at first; while it is off there is no intern role, menu, list or countersign step anywhere.
Who may countersign?
A doctor of the department (and unit, where there are units) of the placement it was written in — or, where Setup says so, only those of them marked as supervising interns. Never an intern.
Which patients does an intern see?
Those of today’s placement — patients under a consultant of that department (and unit), or in that department’s own ward.
Who is the intern coordinator?
The built-in Intern coordinator role, or anybody given the task in Setup beside their own role.
