- 2 The meal’s list Kitchen By ward, each kind counted for the cooking; allergies shown.

- 4 Served Kitchen Served, refused or held; a refusal is told to the ward.
The kitchen’s list
Breakfast, lunch, dinner — every bed, every diet
The totals on top — how many nil by mouth, how many diabetic, how many soft — and each patient below, ward by ward. A patient with no diet written shows too, so the ward can be asked. The list prints as well.

Questions
What hospitals ask
How does the kitchen know what each patient eats?
From what the doctor wrote on each patient’s latest signed round. Nothing is written twice.
Is nil by mouth caught when written in Bangla?
Yes — “NPO”, “nil by mouth” or “মুখে কিছু খাওয়া যাবে না” and the like, in the diet or the nursing orders.
